Broken down into its simplest form, the basic requirements are 4 years of experience within the last 10 years. Submit your application with the filing fee and wait till your application is reviewed. Once reviewed, you then wait for your test date to arrive. Take and pass your exam(s), submit your bond and workers comp info or exemption form and there you have it. You're now a licensed contractor.
Of course there are a lot of details in between all of that, but that is the basic look at what's required. And that's why Contractor University is here to help with all of the fine details so you can concentrate on passing your exams.
The next question is... will my experience qualify me for the exam?Often times, there may be college or trade school that can be used in lieu of on-the-job experience. Or you may have been listed on a license for more than five years and now you want to be the qualifier on the license. Or maybe your father is retiring and you want to take over the family business. Do you need to take the exam in any of those circumstances??
It can be a very complex process, but Contractor University has the skilled staff to make the process much easier for you. Let us worry about the details.
